Two things that have no business being one thing.
Olive wood — ancient, warm, golden. From groves that have stood for centuries. One of the oldest and most storied woods in the world. Honey tones and warm grain that deepens every time the light shifts.
And blue abalone — iridescent, shimmering, pulled from the floor of the sea. Blues and greens and golds all living inside one thin strip of shell.
Earth. And ocean. Together.
The abalone was set into a carved channel in the olive wood ring by hand. Pressed in. Cut to fit. Sealed with layers of super glue until it was solid and flush with the surface of the ring. Then sanded from 100 grit all the way through to 600. Polished through four stages of Micro Magic polish and finished with a scratch resistant wood turner’s wax that gives it a silky-smooth feel against your skin.
Against that warm golden olive wood — the abalone is playful. Bright. Surprising. Every time the light catches it differently it shows you something new. Blue. Green. Gold. All of it alive on your finger.
It is a size 7.5. Smooth and light. The kind of ring you forget you’re wearing and then catch the light hitting it across the room and remember all over again.
