Jerry Mihaly

Jerry grew up in western Pennsylvania and currently resides in Pinellas Park, FL. He loves working in clay, especially porcelain, which has a look and feel that transports him into his a world of his own.  He is passionate about crystalline glazes - Jerry states that working with them is labor intensive with a high failure rate ... and when everything comes together it produces beautiful results with each piece being unique.  Jerry finds his inspiration in nature and personal experiences that touch him. His work begins with blocks of raw clay that are wheel-thrown or hand-built to form decorative and functional pieces. Each piece is made from porcelain and/or stoneware clays which are bisque fired, glazed and fired again up to 2350 deg ... a process both highly laborious and time consuming but his results are stunning and dazzling.
